Station number 2 on the Vía crucis a la Cruz del Campo - the Way of the Cross. A route with 14 stations describing Jesus’ journey on the day of his crucifixion. The route draws its inspiration from the road of suffering - Via Dolorosa, and the distances between the different stations also try to be faithful to the original route (the distance between the house of Pontius Pilate and the hill of Calvary)
At this station, Jesus appears leaving the house of the governor of Judea - Pontius Pilate, with the cross on his shoulder.
The images on the route were placed in 1521 by Fadrique Enriquez de Ribera, the Marquis of Tarifa, returning from a pilgrimage in Israel.
Translation of the text on the sign: NAZARENE JESUS
