The club, which was a cafe when it was founded, is the oldest rock club in New York. In which appeared at the beginning of their career: Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder. Entertainers: Woody Allen and Billy Crystal. Bob Dylan played played pool while watching shows.
Dozens of live performances were recorded at the club and in 2016 Lady Gaga performed there.

The club was officially recognized by the city of New York in 1992.
