A plaque in SoHo in New York commemorates Chester Rapkin (1918-2001), the urban planner who in his role as city planning commissioner brought the Soho district from an industrial area to a vibrant artistic district. He is also the one who gave the nickname SoHo to the area (SOuth of HOuston).
