The plaque on the town hall indicates the liberation of the city of Paris. The plate shows the vanguard force of Captain Dronne (Raymond Dronne), who was the second Allied officer to enter Paris. Captain Dron of the 2nd Armored Division of the Free French Army moves towards the Town Hall on August 24, 1944, where the sign is displayed. Additional plaques are found throughout Paris.
