The bridge opened for traffic in 1856 connects the right bank of the Seine with the island of Île de la Cité (one of the two islands in the center of the Seine). This is the first metal bridge built in Paris, it is 80 meters long and 20 meters wide. The bridge is named after the apprentice of a locksmith who was killed in the July Revolution of 1830 (Trois Glorieuses - a revolution in which King Charles X was deposed and replaced by Louis Philippe) during an attack on the town hall.
