The statue whose full name is "Young Elephant in a Trap" was made for the Paris World Exhibition in 1878. In 1935 the statue was moved to the gardens of the Porte de Saint-Cloud, and in 1986 to the courtyard of the Musée dOrsay, where the statue was photographed.
In the next enlarged picture, you can see the leg of the elephant that was captured and tied with a rope. You can also see in the same photo the name of the sculptor engraved on the base of the statue (E.
