]Ulmus parvifolia

Chinese Elm
(Lacebark Elm)
Ulmus parvifolia

Natural range: China, Korea, Japan

The leaves, though smaller than in the Siberian elm (tree 25 Click for sign's details), show the same traits; for instance, both have saw-toothed edges. These are the only two elm species on campus, and the only two commonly planted in Israel.

[a question]
Can you find three other elm trees growing near this one? (Identify them by their saw-tooth leaf edges.) Are these others Chinese elms, like this one, or Siberian elms, with larger leaves?

[The fourth face of the cube]

[The Answer to the question]
You can see three other elms on your left, within 20 meters of here. Based on their larger leaves, you can identify these as Siberian elms.
