The Cathedral Church of Christ, Blessed Mary the Virgin and St Cuthbert of Durham Welcome to Durham Cathedral
We hope you enjoy your visit to this unique place: the shrine of St Cuthbert, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and place of worship, welcome and hospitality for almost 1000 years.
It costs £200,000 per week to run the Cathedral. As a charitable organisation without regular government funding, your donations and purchases help us to maintain the cathedral’s historic buildings, grounds and riverbanks for the enjoyment of everyone.
Voluntary Donation
We ask all who visit to donate £5 if they are able. Each donation supports one minute of conservation and maintenance of this magnificent place. Thank you.
