A sign in the series of signs in Madrid, made of clay and depicting in an illustration one of the elements of the street
The street is named after Martin of Tours (Saint Martin) (316-397), the bishop of the city of Tours, France. On the sign appears the description of the incident in which when he was in the Roman army, he saw a beggar walking without clothes. He tore his cloak and gave half of it to a beggar. Jesus appeared to him in a dream and said to the angels: The unbaptized soldier, he clothed me. After the dream, Martin became a Christian.
On another sign located in San Martin Square, there is a different illustration of the same event Click for sign's details
