On the sign:
BARBARY COAST TRAIL This Plaque Sponsored By THE COTCHETT FAMILY
The route connects the historical points of San Francisco. On the route are points related to the "Gold Rush" era and the construction of the railroads on the West Coast. Barbary Coast was the "red light" district of San Francisco in the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The area was established during the "Gold Rush" when the population of San Francisco grew greatly.
On the route that stretches for about 6 km, there are 180 plates similar to the current sign, with arrows pointing to the continuation of the route attached to each plate. In the current plate you can see a gold prospector, and scenes from life in San Francisco at that time.
