The sign is at the base of the statue of Diagoras, a boxer from the fifth century BC, who after amassing several victories in the Olympic Games came to support the competitions of two of his children. When the children won they lifted their father on their shoulders and celebrated their victory. Since Diagoras was a native of Rhodes, the statue stood on that island.
