במקום זה נוסד בשנת תרע"ג (1912) הסמינר העברי הראשון בארץ ישראל, כיום מכללת לוינסקי לחינוך.
ייסדוהו "חובבי ציון״ על שם הסופר אלחנן לייב לוינסקי והיה לבית המדרש לגננות ומורים מחנכי הדור העברי החדש.

LEVINSKY SEMINARY
IN 1912, AT THIS PLACE, THE FIRST HEBREW SEMINARY IN ERETZ ISRAEL WAS ESTABLISHED, KNOWN TODAY AS LEVINSKY COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, IT WAS FOUNDED BY HOVEVEI ZION" IN THE NAME OF ELHANAN LEIB LEVINSKY, WRITER AND ZIONIST LEADER. ITS MAIN GOAL WAS TO PREPARE TEACHERS AND EDUCATORS FOR FUTURE HEBREW GENERATIONS.
