Comments:
The sign is on the wall of the house where the Irish painter John Lavery lived. Lavery was born in North Belfast, Ireland. After completing his studies in Glasgow and Paris, he moved to London. He was known for painting portraits as well as many paintings dealing with the First World War.
Lavery was active in the Irish War of Independence, and this house was used during the negotiations that led to the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in 1921.
The sign was placed in 1966
