On the sign:
Emblem of the city of Cambridge Alan Turing 1912-1954 mathematician, computer pioneer and code breaker
The sign is on the wall of King’s College in Cambridge where Turing studied mathematics, and later a fellow. Alan Turing was one of the pioneers of computers, who built the model that describes the operation of the computer - "Turing machine". He also defined the "Turing test" as a test that checks whether a computer has artificial intelligence. During World War II, Turing contributed to the war effort by succeeding in cracking the German Enigma encryption machine. The current sign was placed on June 23, 2012, on the centenary of the birth of Alan Turing .
