[Paintings of Arbúcies by Santiago Rusiñol]

.
Recordant a Santiago Rusiñol
De jovenet que tinc a la retina
la imatge d’en Santiago Rusiñol
quan pels indrets d’Arbúcies s’encamina
buscant l’exhuberància del seu sol .

I pinta la bellesa tendra i fina
sien hortensies , lliris o rosers .

Ha passat temps ... Retinc en la memoria
el personatge que s’ha fet historia
convertint ferros vells en quelcom viu;

Comments:
A sign located near the La Riera d’Arbúcies track, depicting the stay of Catalan painter, writer and playwright Santiago Rusiñol in the town of Arbúcies. The artist painted many of the views of the town, some of which appear on the sign.

Translation of the text on the sign:
THE ARBUCIES OF RUSINOL

The creation of the artist
The satisfaction of the residents of Arbúcies from the artist’s stay in the town is reflected in El Baix Montseny magazine, where you can read the following: Rusiñol, with his artist’s brush, put on canvas the beauty of our landscapes in a way no one could do before. In his paintings he made them famous, other things he did caused that although he was not born in Arbúcies we treat him as one who was born in the town (at least in his heart).
The elders of the town remember the painter painting by the creek, and someone said that one day when he finished painting, one of the scouts greeted him, the artist turned to him and told him "this painting is worth nothing". Then Rossiniol signed the picture and said, "Now the painting is worth it."

Rossiniol’s memory remains in Arbúcies, and is expressed in one of the poems from the book Hores de lleure, written by the local poet Fèlix Graells:

Remembering Santiago Rusiñol
As a young man I have in my retina
the image of Santiago Rusiñol
when he goes through the places of Arbúcies
seeking the exuberance of its sun.

And it paints the tender and fine beauty
in the sublime gardens of Can Badés
putting the heart to the flowers it illuminates
they are hydrangeas, lilies or roses.

Time has passed ... I remember
the character who has made history
turning old irons into something alive;

who has lived in a fantasy world
and that he has taken off, with his rare irony,
the grace of an incisive photism.

Unconsciousness is a happy book.
The experience is a very sad book.
