מילא שורה ארוכה של תפקידים בראשם שר הביטחון, שר החוץ ושר האוצר.

ממניחי התשתיות ליכולות ההרתעה וההגנה של המדינה, וממקימי הכור בדימונה והתעשיות הביטחוניות.
הנהיג את ישראל כמעצמה מובילה בטכנולוגיה ובחדשנות.
פעל ללא לאות לקידום הסכמי השלום בין ישראל ושכנותיה ולחיזוק חיים משותפים וסובלנות בתוך מדינת ישראל.
בוגר "בן שמן" וממייסדי "אלומות".
מדינאי, אוהב ספר, שירה ואמנות, חתן פרס נובל לשלום, איש חזון ומעש.
