אלונים
אלון מצוי ואלון התבור נפוצים בארץ; אלון מצוי עץ/שיח ירוק-עד שעליו גִּלְדניים וקטנים יחסית ושפתם דוקרנית כנעץ. לאלון התבור עלים רכים ורחבים יותר הנושרים בחורף (לעיתים באופן חלקי), אך כבר בטרם השלֶכֶת יוצאים ניצני עלים חדשים המרמזים על התחדשות:
"כָּאֵלָה וְכָאֵלוֹן אֲשֶׁר בְּשַׁלֶּכֶת מַצְבֶת בָּם זֶרַע קֹדֶשׁ מַצַּבְתָּה" ( ישעיהו ו’ י"ג).

הראובני זהה את האלון המצוי כְּנַעֲצוּץ ואת התבור כְּנַהֲלוּל, בדומה לשמו בערבית וכשם הכפר מַהֲלוּל בגליל התחתון "וּבָאוּ וְנָחוּ כַלָּם בְּנַחֲלֵי הַבַּתּוֹת וּבִנְקִיקֵי הַפְּלָעִים וּבְכֹל הַנַּעֲצוּצִים וּבְכֹל הַנַהֲלֹלִים" (ישעיהו ז ’ י"ט).

Oak Trees
Palestine oak (Quercus calliprinos)and Mt. Tabor oak (Quercus ithaburensis) are common trees in Israel; the Palestine oak is a low-growing evergreen tree with small stiff leaves that have spikey edges. The Tabor oak has softer, broader leaves and is deciduous (sometimes only partially), but before they shed completely, new leaves already emerge, hinting at the renewal to come:
"Like the terebinth [tree] and the oak in their fall [season], their [dormant] trunk remains carrying the holy seed within" (Isaiah 6:13).
