Sculptor
At the age of 16, she immigrated to Israel with her family and settled in Petah Tikva.
When she was 22, she went to study sewing at a haute couture house in Paris and then enrolled in painting studies, which she graduated with honors.
A visit to a sculpture workshop made her fall in love with the field, where she developed innovative sculpture techniques.
In World War II she fled to Switzerland and then returned to Paris. The first sculpture she created is characterized by unpolished parts, symbolizing the ravages of war.
Throughout the years of her work, Orloff sculpted in marble, stone, bronze and wood. The "Mother with a Child" monument, which stands in Ein Gev, symbolizes the heroism of women in the War of Independence.
Our streets have a special charm.
They reflect history and a culture of values and heritage.
As part of the week "in full exclusion" we will ascend to the miracle of inspiring women who have gained recognition and appreciation by naming a street after their name.
Today, not many streets in the city are named after women, and the municipality is working to rectify the situation: last year, the municipality commemorated more than ten women - artists, creators, social activists, women and spirit, and read about streets and public institutions across the city.
