Jews in Akko Port in the 12th Century
Many Jews, from Spain and Ashkenaz - notably the Rambam (Maimonides, 1166) - Passed through Akko’s port during the Crusade rule. Some of them settled in the city, turning Akko’s Jewish community into the largest and most important in Israel.
