On the sign:

View from the train on the way to Bittir, 1986.

"And all that time I do not budge from the window, my eyes joyfully caressing the desolate plots of land. The train breathes heavily, slowly ascending... and remnants of the ancient forests are revealed before my eyes...Oh, how I longed to leave the car and climb those ribbed hills.. The train enters the station. A few people alight, What tranquility. What abundant light. I alight, my basket in hand."
Rachel Yanait Ben-Zvi, 1918.
