HIDDEN RIVER 1860s
The River Fleet runs under your feet. This subterranean stream flows from the Hampstead and Highgate ponds to the River Thames.

As London developed, the river was gradually covered over- the northern parts by the 1860s. Both Fleet Rd. and Fleet St. in the City were named after it.
