Radar Hill was a hill with a telephone radio facility, which was of great importance because Arab forces hit the telephone lines and the hill also controlled the road between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. After the British evacuated the compound, the Palmach forces managed to occupy it, but the Arab forces in a number of attacks managed to occupy it back. Many attempts were made to take over the hill (including the one marked on the sign) but all failed and cost many fighters their lives.
