מבקיעי הדרך אל העיר | اختراق الطريق إلى المدينة | Liberators of the Jerusalem Road

עם פרוץ מלחמת העצמאות החל המאבק על הדרך המובילה ממישור החוף ומהשפלה לירושלים.
במאבק ממושך זה השתתפו גברים ונשים, אזרחים ולוחמים, שפעלו להעביר מזון ואספקה אל תושבי ירושלים. בקרבות העזים נפצעו ונהרגו מאות אנשים. מבנה המורשת בחאן שער הגיא מוקדש לכל אותם אנשים שהיו נכונים למסור את נפשם כדי לשמור את הדרך לירושלים פתוחה.

בצידי הדרך מוטלים מתינו. שלד הברזל שותק כמו רעי.
...יום אביב יבוא ורקפות תפרחנה, אודם כלנית בהר ובמורד.
זה אשר ילך בדרך שהלכנו אל ישכח אותנו, אותנו באב אל-וואד "

مع اندلاع حرب الاستقلال بدأ صراع على الطريق من السهل الساحلي إلى القدس ۔ صراع متواصل شارك فيه رجال ونساءط مواطنون ومقاتلون الذين عملوا من أجل تزويد سكان القدس بالغذاء وغيره من الاحتياجات .
أصيب في المعارك الدامية وقتل آلاف الأشخاص . المبنى التراثي في خان باب الواد مكرس لجميع هؤلاء الأشخاص الذين كانوا على استعداد لتقديم أرواحهم للحفاظ على الطريق مفتوحة .

" اذكر اسماءنا للأبد قوافل انطلقت إلى المدينة . على جوانب الطرق موتانا قلقون . الهيكل الحديدي صامت كالزوث . .. سيأتي يوم ربيعي وتزهر شعصا الراعي ، وتحمر شقائق النعمان في الجبل وعلى سفوحه . كل من يسير في طريقنا عليه ألا ينسانا ، نحن باب الواد " .

The battle for the road from the Coastal Plain and Shefelah to Jerusalem began with the outbreak of the War of Independence. Men and women, civilians and fighters alike, were active in bringing food and supplies to the besieged city. Hundreds were killed or wounded in the bitter fighting. The Sha’ar Hagai Heritage Site is dedicated to those who risked their lives to keep the Jerusalem road open.

Where convoys to the city broke through
Our dead lie sprawled by the roadside.
The iron skeleton, like my comrade, is mute.
A spring day will come and cyclamens bloom
Anemones redden the hilltop and slope.

The Khan Sha’ar HaGai site includes a memorial center for convoys that broke through to Jerusalem. The site was inaugurated at the end of 2020.

In the courtyard of the khan you can find armored vehicles used by the convoys that tried to break through the siege of Jerusalem.
These armored vehicles stood for many years on both sides of the road to Jerusalem, with the establishment of the memorial site, the armored vehicles were renovated and placed in the Khan’s courtyard and in other places.
