כָּל הַיּוֹם בְּבֵיתָהּ עַל מִשְׁכָּבָהּ מִתְהַפֶּכֶת.
הִיא כָּל כָּךְ שְׁמֵנָה, שֶׁקָּשֶׁה לָהּ לָלֶכֶת.

- הֲנָאִים הַחֲדָרִים בְּעֵינַיִךְ ?
- נָאִים.
- הַנָאֶה הַמִיטְבָּח בְּעֵינַיִךְ ?
- נָאֶה.
- הֲנְאֶה הַמִסְדְּרוֹן בְּעֵינַיִךְ
- נָאֶה.

- אִם - כַּן שְׁבִי אַתָּנוּ, הָאַרְנֶבֶת !
- לֹא לֹא אֵשֵׁב.
- לָמָּה ?

- הֵשְׁכֵנִים אֵינָם טוֹבִים בְּעֵינַי.
אֵיךְ אֵשֵׁב פֹּה, אֵם לְעֶשְׂרִים אַרְנָבוֹת,
עִם קוּקִּיָה מַפְקִירָה הַבָּנִים ?
כָּל בָּנֶיהָ גָּדְלוּ בְּקֵנִּים זָרִים, כֻּלָּם
עֲזוּבים כֻּלָּם מֻפְקָרִים.
מַה לֶקַח יִלְמְדוּ מֵהֶם יְלָדַי ?

נֶעֶלְבָה הַקוּקִיָּה,
וְהָאַרְנֶבֶת הָלְכָה לָהּ.

- הֲנָאָה הַדִּירָה בְּעֵינֶיךָ ?
- נָאָה.
- הַנָאֶה הַמִּיטְבָּח בְּעֵינֶיךְ ?
- נָאֶה הַמִּיטְבָּח, אַף-כִּי אֵינֶנּוּ מְלֻכְלָךְ !
- הַנָאֶה המִּסְדְּרוֹן בְּעֵינֶיךָ ?
- נָאֶה.

- אִם - כֵּן, שֵׁב אִתָּנוּ !
- לֹא, לֹא אֵשֵׁב.
- לָמָּה ?

- הַשְׁכֵנִים אֵינָם טוֹבִים בְּעֵינַי, אֵיךְ אֵשֵׁב אֲנִי חֲזִיר, לָבָן בֶּן לְבָנִים מִימֵי בְּרֵאשִׁית,
בִּכְפִיפָה אַחַת עִם חֲתוּלָה כּוּשִׁית !
לֹא נָאֶה לִי וְלֹא יָאֶה לִי.

קָרְאוּ הַשְׁכֵנִים:
לֵךְ, לֵךְ לְךָ חֲזִיר !
גַּם לָנוּ לֹא נָאֶה וְלֹא יָאֶה !

- מְרֻבֶּה בּוֹ הַצֵּל, הַמִּסְדְּרוֹן אָפֵל.

- וּבְכֵן, לֹֹא תֵשְׁבִי אִתָּנוּ ?
- אֵשֵׁב וְאֵשֵׁב בְּחֵפֶץ לֵב,
כִּי הַשְׁכֵנִים טוֹבִים בְּעֵינַי.
