The monument is located in Givat Tom and Tomer, which is a botanical garden and a memorial site for the victims of the helicopter disaster (February 4, 1997), where two helicopters collided on their way to southern Lebanon. The disaster killed 73 soldiers. The son of one of the members of Kibbutz Negba, Tomer Keidar, was one of the victims of the disaster, in his memory and in memory of his friend Tom Kitain, a memorial site was erected.
The monument, which is actually a high-voltage pillar with paintings of 73 pigeons, was made by Rafi Peled, a painter and amateur sculptor who was the CEO of the Electric Company (and before that the Commissioner of Police).
The monument was photographed that day by the same photographer, and on it you can see the excerpt from Natan Yonatan’s poem
