בקליפורניה, עצים אלה גדלים להיות העצים הגבוהים ביותר בעולם (מעל 110 מ’ - פי 5 מגובהו של העץ לפניך, פי 5-6 מגובהו של הדינוזאור הגבוה ביותר). עץ הסקויה שלפניך הוא הותיק ביותר בישראל; הוא ניטע בשנות החמישים של המאה הקודמת.

Natural range: California coast

In California, these grow to be the world’s tallest tree (over 110 meters - 5 times taller than the one seen here, and 5-6 times taller than the tallest known dinosaurs). This is Israel’s oldest coast redwood, planted in the 1950’s

האצטרובלים של עץ גדול זה זעירים כגודל זית וקשה למצאם. כל אצטרובל מכיל כ-50 זרעים קטנטנים; מהם עשויים לצמוח העצים הגבוהים ביותר בעולם!

[The Answer to the question]
Difficult to find, this big tree’s cones are only about the size of an olive. Each cone contains about 50 tiny seeds. From such tiny beginnings, the earth’s tallest trees can grow!

Tree No. 30 in the Mac and Tibby Podel Discovery Tree Walk, located on the Edmond J. Safra Campus of the Hebrew University of Givat Ram.

Each tree is accompanied by a cube with details on the tree. On the top of which is the text:
