תחנת הטרנספורמציה "שלישית" ברחוב אילת | محطة التحويل الكهربائي " الثالثة " في شارع إيلات | The "Third" Transformer Station, Eilat Street

תחנת ההשנאה (טרנספורמציה) נבנתה ב-1923, וכונתה "שלישית" על שום היותה השלישית במניין תחנות ההשנאה שהקימה "חברת החשמל ליפו בע"מ". מבנה התחנה תוכנן ע"י האדריכל ריכארד קאופמן (1887-1958), שהוזמן ע"י פנחס רוטנברג (1879-1972), מייסד חברת החשמל, על מנת שיתכנן את תחנות-הכוח הראשונות בארץ. עיצובו של המבנה מדמה שער כניסה למקדש מצרי עתיק. המבנה מרובע, בעל קירות משופעים חסרי עיטורים וקצהו העליון מוקף שלוש רצועות פלדה אליהן מחוברים כבלי החשמל. מודל עיצובי זה שימש אבטיפוס לתחנות השנאה נוספות בתל-אביב-יפו. המבנה שהוכרז לשימור עדיין פעיל כתחנת השנאה. בשנת 2011 המבנה שוקם ושומר תוך שיתוף פעולה בין חברת החשמל ועיריית תל-אביב-יפו.

The transformer station was built in 1923 and was the third station to have been constructed by the Jaffa Electric Company. It vas designed by Architect Richard Kauffmann (1887-1958), who had been asked by the founder of the Electric Company, Pinchas Rutenberg (1879-1942) to design the first power stations in the country. The structure simulates an ancient Egyptian pylon temple, it is a square building with sloping unadorned battered walls. The three projecting bands of steel on its uppermost tower are used to connect the electric cables. This design model was a prototype for other transformer stations in Tel-Aviv-Jaffa. Currently, it has been declared a heritage building and is still an active transformer station. The station was restored during 2011 by the Israel Electric Corporation and the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality
