"Hatikva" House
Home of Shmuel Cohen

The modest home of the farmer Shmuel Cohen once.stood here.
Shmuel Cohen adapted the melody of a Rumanian folk song to the words of Naftali Herz Imber’s poem, "Hatikva" (1888).
The song quickly became popular both in Eretz Israel and abroad, eventually becoming the national anthem. Music notes decorate the ironwork on the balconies of the modern house.

Comments:
One of the signs initiated by Rishon Lezion Museum depicting historic places in the city and also include the The Pioneers’ Way.

The next photo taken that day shows the house standing today, and the sign in front of it. Notice the national anthem "Hatikva" notes that are on the porch bars (they can be clearly seen on the second floor porch). Also take note of the anthem words that appear on the side of the building (near the porch where the anthem notes can be clearly seen) Click for a larger image and in the enlarged picture Click for a larger image
