Signs series: Story gardens in Holon

About the series

Background

More than 50 gardens located throughout the city of Holon and each of them is dedicated to a children’s song or story. In every garden there are signs with excerpts from the story or poem and sculptures that accompany the poem or story, while in every garden the sculptures were made by the same sculptors.

Most of the songs and stories are by Israeli writers and poets: Leah Goldberg’s "Apartment for rent" , Meir Shalev’s "The Louse Nechama" , David Grossman’s "Itamar walks on walls" But there are also writers from the wider world such as "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry , "Moomins" by Tova Jansson .

There are also clusters of gardens, gardens in which there are several stories, divided into different complexes within the garden: , ,

About the signs

The signs are different from garden to garden. There are directional signs with a uniform format , but in the garden itself the signs were usually designed by the artists who created the sculptures, and they are made of different materials, in a variety of shapes and are on the ground, on the statues or on pillars.
