Itamar meets a rabbit Author: David Grossman
Design and sculpture: Orit Mazurik
Performed by: Deadline
[Excerpt from Book No. 1]
Itamar loves animals. Itamar loves all the animals there are. Itamar even loves animals that do not exist, like a unicorn, or like a dinosaur.
... Itamar was never afraid of lions, nor tigers with sharp teeth .. not terrible dragons.
Only rabbits he is always afraid of.
Rather rabbits.
Such small ones.
so strange:
Above Itamars bed hangs a picture with lions - and he likes to look at them every night without any fear.
If, for example, he meets a tiger near Abodis grocery store, he will not run away.
And if-and-if-and if ever by chance a terrible dragon will knock on his door. Itamar without fear will say to him like this: "Gimelia - Jim!" And the dragon will immediately run away.
Such a hero he is.
[Excerpt from Book No. 2]
... only with rabbits he has a little problem ...
... and when he walks with mom and dad to the zoo, and they come to the rabbit cage - he puts his hands over his eyes so as not to see. Not to be afraid.
Itamar thinks like this: A rabbit is a very dangerous animal.
Itamar also thinks such a thought: A rabbit is a large animal like an elephant, and it is full of teeth. Even in the tail.
Itamar is sure that rabbits prey on children.
And it is impossible to explain to him that he is wrong.
Hes not ready to hear at all.
[Excerpt from Book No. 3]
But one day an interesting thing happened:
Itamar went on a trip with his father and mother. They were hiking in a small forest.
... Suddenly someone small-small and cute-cute ran into Itamar, and they both got scared and shouted together: "Mommy!"
The small-cute someone looked at Itamar.
Someone had brown fur and a very short tail, and long ears, and a small moustache.
The small moustache shook a little out of fear.
"Who are you?" Asked someone.
"Im Itamar." Said Itamar
... "Im a kid myself!" Itamar laughed.
"Someone screamed a little scream ..." but you do not look bad to me "he said.
"We can be friends," Itamar said, "but you did not tell me who you are."
"Ah," said the man, "I am a rabbit."
"Rabbit?!!" "But you do not look bad to me," said Itamar.
"Come," Itamar told him, "we will play with pine cones."
