Born in London, UK (1886-1963) Considered one of the best sculptors in Europe of his time, and one of the most important British sculptors of the twentieth century. He began his career as a painter but most of his publicity came from the sculptures he created. Holder of a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire), and was head of sculpture at the Royal College of Arts.
