Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (1898-1977). He created many head sculptures, and monuments commemorating the fallen in World War II, including the monument in Amsterdam commemorating the aid of the Netherlands to Jews during this period. In 1956 he founded the Association for Public Art with the aim of bringing art closer to the general public through radio and television classes. For his work, Wertheim has won numerous awards including the "Silver Carnation" award and the Medal of Honor for his contribution to public art.
