Born in Druskininkai, Lithuania (1891-1973). A Jewish sculptor (his original name - Haim Yaakov) who first sculpted in the Cubist style and then moved to the expressionist sculptural style. At the age of 28 he moved to Paris where he studied and made contact with famous artists (Picasso, Modigliani). During the Nazi occupation of France, he moved to the United States where he lived and created almost until his last day.
