Was born in Dublin, Ireland (1848-1907). An American sculptor who immigrated to the United States at the age of six months. After working as an apprentice to a number of sculptors, he traveled to Paris, France in 1867 to study at the École des Beaux-Arts, studies that influenced his style. Many of his sculptures deal with the Civil War in the United States
