Potters Fields - a cemetery for the poor, a name given to the area because of the poor who lived there in the 17th and 18th centuries, although it is not known to have been used as a cemetery.
The quote on the sign was carried at the opening of the park in 1988 by Lil Patrick who worked hard to establish the park.
