On the sign:
Upper Skybridge Upper Skybridge is 150 meters (492 feet) long and 130 meters (426 feet) high. To put that into perspective - a two-story home is about 6 meters (20 feet) tall - if you stacked up 21 houses you’d hit the floor of the ravine On average an adult’s walking stride is about 1 metre - so it should take approximately 150 paces to walk from end to end Count your steps on your way across but don’t forget to enjoy the views!
How much weight can the bridges hold? The bridges are built to hold a LOT of weight - they can hold over 32,000 kilograms (70,000 pounds). This should be approximately 110 adult black bears which would look like quite a party!
From this spot As you cross the bridge you can gaze down into the valley to see Kicking Horse River, and catch a glimpse of Hospital Creek Waterfalls. Kicking Horse River flows into the Columbia River, the largest river in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. It flows from its source, Columbia Lake at the crest of the Rocky Mountains, all the way to Portland Oregon, and has the greatest flow of any North American river entering the Pacific Ocean. It is at its most turbulent and powerful in the spring when the snowpack in the mountains melts.
