On the sign:

[translation]
This tower was renovated in memory of
Rachel and Jacob Weiss
from the founders of the moshav, who went up to the ground in September 1950.
Yaakov Weiss was the first security coordinator in the Moshav as part of the Border Guard.
The settlement was a border settlement until 1967. A 24-hour security presence was required

Translation of the text on the sign:
Watchtower
Between the years 1950-1968 the village was a Sefar settlement.
Until 1960, a guard was stationed at night at the top of the tower, the guard, a reservist who was placed at the initiative of the IDF or a member of the moshav. The guards used to turn on the searchlight that was at the top of the tower.
The rotating searchlight was used for signaling and defense observations against infiltrators across the Jordanian border.
