Tallinna Linna Tütarlaste Kommertsgüimnaasiumi kolmekorruselise hoone projekteeris Peterburi insener-arhitekt Aleksander Rosenberg 1912.a. võistlustoöna arhitektuurikonkursil. Projekti viimisiles linnainsener Carl Jacoby. Ehitis valmis 1916.a. Juugendklassitsismi parimaid näiteid Tallinnas. Fassaadikujunduses on rakendatud joonia pilastreid, munavöötornamenti. Merkuuri sau, kaubandusliku eda sümbol, kordub tammepuust peauksel ja kolmnurkfrontoonil tarkusejumalanna Ateena paremas käes.
Kommerisgümnaasium tegutses kuni 1938.a. Tallinna Merekool aastail 1945-91. Hoone renoveeriti 1995-96.a. Seejärel asus siia Inglise Kolledž. Õuepoolset võimlakorpust juurde ehitades sattuti maapõues barokkaegse bastioni tugimüürile, mis eksponeeriti maa-aluses parklas.

The three-storey building for Girl’s Higher Commercial School was designed by the St. Petersburg architect Aleksander Rosenberg for an architectural competition held in 1912. The project was elaborated by civil engineer Carl Jacoby. Construction was completed in 1916. The building is one of the best examples of the Neo-Classical trend of Art Nouveau architecture in Tallinn. The façade is decorated with ionic pilasters, egg and dart ornament. Mercury’s wand, a symbol of commercial success, is used on the oak front door and in the triangular pediment in the right hand of Athena, the goddess of wisdom.
Commercial School functioned until 1938. Between 1945 and 1991, the building served as the Tallinn Maritime College. In 1995–96 it was renovated and the Tallinn English College moved in. During construction of the sports extension, a bastion wall from the Baroque period was discovered, which is now exposed in the underground car park.
