The sign shows Lajos Kossuth, who led the Hungarian struggle for independence during the "Springtime of the Peoples". After serving as Foreign Minister, he served as Prime Minister of Hungary and is known as the Hungarian "Father of the Nation".

The sign was placed in 1998 for the 150th anniversary of the "Springtime of Nations" in Europe (1848-1849), a period in which many countries fought for their independence.
