The July Column, standing in the center of Bastille Square, was erected to commemorate the July Revolution of 1830, a revolution that lasted 3 days (27-29 July) and at the end of which King Charles X was replaced by Louis Philippe I. On the base of the column (as you can see from the pictures above) 24 round medallions on different subjects (Medusas head, the cross of July and more)
