On the sign:
เส้นทางเดินท่องเที่ยว กรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ Rattanakosin Cultural Route ラタナコーシン旧市街観光コース、拉塔克心路
"Samphraeng" has exited since the reign of King Rama V. it was a result of the development of the three royal residences. Construction of roads and commercial buildings brought about the area of "Samphraeng" comprising Phraeng Sappasart, Phraeng Nara and Phraeng Phuthon. This area has become one of trading and business districts until the present days. The commercial buildings and shophouses reflect well the influence Bangkok received in the reign of King Rama V. That is, colonial and Chinese styles were the main proportions. Residents lived on the upper floors while trading or commercial purposes were done on the ground floor. These buildings have mostly been found at Phraeng Nara and Phraeng Phuthon. New styles of commercial buildings are found at Phraeng Sappasart due to fire which once devastated the area of Phraeng Sappasart, so the new buildings were needed to replace. At present, the area of Sam Phrang becomes one of the attractions of Bangkok due to magnificent and valuable architecture and famous types of foods. The area of Sam Phraeng attracts well the tourists, both Thai and foreigners.
