The State of Achziv was established in the resort village of Achziv by Eli Avivi in 1971. The "state" was established in the area where the ancient city of Achziv was, and where Avivi built a resort village in 1952. When they decided to establish a national park in the place, Eli Avivi decided out of protest to establish a state in the place. Of course, the state was not recognized by any body, but Avivi designed a flag for it, a symbol (which appears on the sign) and even issued passports of the state of Akhziv.
