The poet Ujō Noguchi.famous as the lyricist of well-known childrens songs, lived and worked for about 20 years in a house he built in 1924 near Inokashira Park in Kichijoji, which was then part of the village of Musashino. This monument was erected in 1952 by the Tokyo Ujó Soceity. It is engraved with a verse from his folk song entitled "Inokashira Ondo":
