The English Heritage Trust is a charity that cares for over 400 historical buildings, monuments and other places.
The sign placed in 1998 indicates the house where Alan Turing, one of the pioneers of computers, was born, who built the model that describes the operation of the computer - the "Turing Machine". He also defined the "Turing test" the test that tests whether a computer has artificial intelligence. During World War II, Turing contributed to the war effort by cracking the German "Enigma" encryption machine.
