History of Paris
Hôtel de Sens The Archbishop of Sens had the bishopric of Paris in his district of Quatrième Lyonnaise and had a residence in this city since 1292. Becoming archbishop in 1475, Tristan de Salazar rebuilt in the flamboyant style the most beautiful of the Parisian palaces of that time. Paris was erected as an archdiocese in 1622, and the archbishops of Sens ceased to use the hotel and rented it. From 1689 to 1743, it became the headquarters of the "Messageries, coaches and coaches of Lyon, Burgundy and Franche-Comté". Other haulage companies succeeded them, then a cannery, a jam factory, a glass factory, etc... The City of Paris bought the Hôtel de Sens in 1911, and had it restored to install the Forney library there.
