Burge - Tower in Arabic

Translation of the text on the sign:
Burge Binyamina
Burge Binyamina was built in the middle of the 19th century during the Turkish rule as a farmhouse, on the ruins of a Byzantine building.
In 1898, German Emperor Wilhelm II stopped there on his way to a meeting with Dr. Herzl in Jerusalem.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Baron Rothschild purchased the Burge lands from Salim Khoury’s heirs. The Burge lands were divided into 27 Zichron Ya’akov farms. The farmers lived in the great khan in Burge all days of the week. They worked the land and on Friday they returned to the Zichron Yaakov settlement. In 1922 with the establishment of Binyamina, some of them moved and settled on Horesh Street.

Today, the ancient khan of the Burge serves as an event garden that combines the fragrance of the past with the festive atmosphere of the present.
