The plaques indicate the carnivals of Breda, carnivals that are held once a year, and during the carnival that lasts for 4 days, the city is called Kielegat, and control over the city passes from the mayor to the "prince of the festival". The carnival is an old Catholic custom that started back in 1707. Each year the motto of the carnival is chosen.
