ERECTED BY THE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE ROYAL ARTILLERY IN MEMORY OF THEIR HONOURED DEAD. SOUTH AFRICA. 1899-1902

The memorial was erected in 1920 in memory of the 1,083 men of the Royal Artillery Corps who fell in South Africa in the Boer War between the British Empire and the republics established by the Boer settlers.

In the center of the monument is a statue made by William Robert Colton and at its base is inscribed the motto of the Artillery Corps
