THIS STATUE BY THOMAS THORNYCROFT WAS PRESENTED TO LONDON BY HIS SON SIR JOHN ISAAC THORNYCROFT C.E. AND PLACED HERE BY THE LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL A.D. 1902
In the statue at the end of Westminster Bridge, the Celtic queen Boadicea appears who lived in the first century AD, and led a rebellion against the Roman rule that ruled Britain. In the bronze statue made by Thomas Thorneycroft, Boadicea appears accompanied by her two daughters, on a chariot. The completion of the work on the statue was done in 1885, near the death of the creator of the statue, but its casting and placement were done only in 1902.
