EROS 29 June 1993 One Hundred Years in Piccadilly Circus (1893-1993)
The plaque was placed on the 100th anniversary of the placement of the "Eros" statue located in the Lord Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain in Piccadilly Square.
The statue was made by the sculptor Alfred Gilbert and depicts the god of passion, and came to commemorate Anthony Ashley Cooper, the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury, an English philanthropist and politician who lived from 1801-1885
